Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professional name for Winona Laura Hoowitz who was born within Winona Minnesota. The parents of her daughter named her the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father is from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder feels she's Jewish. There are two younger half siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder relocated along with her family in Mendocino County California at the age of seven. The family lived in a place without electric power. The books on television were Ryder's only distraction to pass the time. Eventually, she began to read extensively. In 1983, when she was 12 Ryder joined the American Conservatory Theatre to take classes in acting. When she was 15, Ryder landed a role in Lucas the first of her major film. Ryder suffered from bullying in high school. Ryder had hoped that her profession as an actor would be able to bring about change. Unfortunately, that did not take place. She continued to pursue her ambitions. Her big break came in 1988 through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder had a successful role in numerous films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her performance on The Age of Innocence (1993).
